RMCHCS provides orthopedic care for patients across Gallup and McKinley County. At Red Rock Specialty Clinic, we evaluate arthritis, joint pain, fractures (broken bones), and sports or work-related injuries. Mark Werner, M.D., is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with more than 30 years of experience. Your consultation includes a review of your symptoms, medical history and physical examination findings. We explain treatment options in clear language, including nonsurgical care and surgical evaluation when appropriate. Diagnostic imaging and rehabilitation services are available through RMCHCS when recommended.

X-Rays, CT, MRI & Bone Density Testing
Your provider may recommend imaging to assess bone, joint or soft-tissue concerns. RMCHCS offers X-rays, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound and DEXA bone density testing. Your provider selects the test based on your symptoms and examination.
Imaging is performed at Rehoboth McKinley Christian Hospital, 1901 Red Rock Drive. A complete referral signed by your provider is required for imaging procedures. The radiology scheduler contacts you after receiving the referral to arrange your appointment.

Prompt Care for Acute Orthopedic Injuries
Minor sprains and strains are seen on a walk-in basis at RMCHCS Rapid Care, Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Call 911 for severe injuries, such as exposed bone, heavy bleeding, or a limb that is cold or pale.

Mark Werner is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with more than three decades of experience in general orthopedics and total joint reconstruction, with a particular focus on anterior approach total hip arthroplasty. He currently practices with Lovelace Medical Group in Albuquerque, performing hospital-based surgery and providing both elective and emergency orthopedic care.
Dr. Werner served in multiple leadership and clinical roles, including Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at the New Mexico VA Healthcare System and Chief of Surgery or Orthopedics at several U.S. Air Force medical centers. A retired Air Force Colonel, he provided orthopedic care in combat zones and on humanitarian missions, earning multiple commendations including the Legion of Merit.
He is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the Society of Military Orthopedic Surgeons.
