Andrew Wasserberg, PA-C brings extensive front-line experience in emergency medicine and urgent care, complemented by primary care and orthopedic roles. He has treated diverse populations in high-acuity environments, including Indian Health Service sites in Shiprock and Chinle, Eastern New Mexico Medical Center, and Sonora Emergency Medical Group (locums). Andrew’s clinical skill set spans procedures such as incision and drainage, laceration repair, and the recognition and management of orthopedic emergencies. He is proficient in evaluating radiographs and EKGs and managing a wide spectrum of conditions, from respiratory and infectious disease to psychiatric and cardiac presentations.
Andrew earned his B.S. in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of New Mexico and is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA). He holds BLS certification and New Mexico licensure. Patients and colleagues value his dependable, team-oriented approach and his focus on evidence-based care and clear communication.
Claire Escamilla, MD is an ABEM-board-certified emergency physician and medical director known for building high-reliability emergency systems in complex environments. She currently serves as Emergency Department Medical Director at the Indian Health Service Crownpoint Healthcare Facility (Crownpoint, NM), where she has led staffing stabilization, trauma and active-shooter readiness, EMTALA compliance, and Express STI testing initiatives—helping maintain a ≤1% LWBS rate in 2024. Previously, Dr. Escamilla was Physician & EMS Medical Director at Sandia National Laboratories (Albuquerque, NM), securing ALS agency certification, launching a 100% run-review QI/QA program, and guiding COVID-19 testing and vaccination operations. Her leadership spans community, academic, and freestanding ERs, including roles as Interim Division Chief of Emergency Medicine at UT Health San Antonio and medical director positions in Texas.
Dr. Escamilla earned her MD, completed Emergency Medicine residency at the Medical College of Georgia, and an Internal Medicine internship at University Health System (San Antonio). She holds TX and NM licenses, DOE Q Clearance, and is an ACEP Fellow with additional certifications including Medical Review Officer and COLA Lab Director
Grant P. Chanin, PMHNP-BC, FNP-BC is a highly respected psychiatric and family nurse practitioner in Albuquerque with clinical experience since 1997 as an ED-Tech/EMT-B. He practices independently as a PMHNP and Psychiatric OPD Provider at UNM Health Science Center, offering urgent behavioral health and primary care. He also works as an Emergency Room APP at Rehoboth Christian Medical Center in Gallup, NM. Grant serves on the Presbyterian Health Plan Behavioral Health PPEC Committee.
He has served as an FNP-C in emergency departments at Lovelace, Women’s, West Mesa, and Presbyterian hospitals.
At UNM HSC Adult Urgent Care/Emergency Dept, he worked from 2002–2016 and 2019–present. He owned New Mexico Health & Wellness Partners LLC (2017–2019), specializing in addiction medicine using Suboxone, Subutex, and Naltrexone.
Grant was a Flight Nurse for Med-Flight Air Ambulance (2012–2017) and a Pediatric ED RN at UNM HSC. He earned a Post-Master’s PMHNP (2023), MSN/FNP (2016), and RN-BSN (2014) from the University of St. Francis. His certifications include BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, and a DEA-X waiver for addiction treatment.
Jennifer Lynne Salas, PA-C is an emergency medicine Physician Assistant with extensive frontline experience in community and regional hospitals. She currently practices with Presbyterian Health in Albuquerque, NM, and previously worked with Emergency Care Partners/Innovitas Healthcare (Spring Hill, FL), Sheridan Healthcare (Ocala, FL), Bravera/Bayfront Health (Spring Hill and Brooksville, FL), Oakhill Hospital, Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point, St. Joseph’s North, and Morton Plant North Bay. Her clinical background includes laceration repair, incision and drainage, joint injections/aspirations, fracture reduction and splinting, G-tube reinsertion, chest tube assistance, and first assist.
Jennifer holds a Master of Medical Science (Physician Assistant) from Nova Southeastern University and a B.S. in Biomedical Science from the University of South Florida. Earlier roles in perioperative scheduling, patient access, and diagnostic imaging administration give her a 360° view of hospital operations. She maintains BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications and has been active in professional societies including AAPA, FAPA, and SEMPA.
Dr. Nesly Dorcely is an experienced emergency medicine physician with a diverse background in clinical care, business ownership, and military service. Board-certified in emergency and internal medicine, Dr. Dorcely completed his medical education at Marshall University School of Medicine, followed by an extensive training journey that includes an internship in general surgery, a pre-residency fellowship in neurosurgery, and a residency in internal medicine. He further specialized with an emergency medicine fellowship, demonstrating his commitment to delivering critical care in high-pressure situations.
Dr. Dorcely’s professional experience spans multiple states, where he has provided expert care in emergency departments and served as a leader in medical spa businesses. Beyond his clinical expertise, his military service as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and National Guard highlights his dedication to serving others in diverse capacities.
With a strong academic foundation in neuroscience and tropical medicine, Dr. Dorcely integrates advanced knowledge and compassionate care to support his patients effectively in emergency settings.
Lawrence W. Gernon, MD, MPH&TM, FACP is a Senior Foreign (Executive) Service Minister Counselor (ES-5/O-8) and a board-certified physician in Internal Medicine (ABIM) with broad expertise in Global Health Security, Infectious Diseases, Tropical & Travel Medicine, Public Health, Preventive Medicine, Addictionology (ASAM), and Emergency Medicine.
He is a Primary Trauma Care Instructor with multiple advanced life support certifications. From 2003–2017, Dr. Gernon served as a Regional Medical Officer for the U.S. Department of State, with tours in Kabul, Mexico City, Bangkok, New Delhi, Nairobi, and La Paz. As Chief Medical Officer in Kabul, he established a free-standing Emergency Center in a war zone. He also served as District Health Director for the Virginia Department of Health.
Currently, he is an Attending Physician in Emergency Medicine at Presbyterian Healthcare System (since 2021) and previously at the VA Regional Medical Center (2017–2023). Academically, he is an Adjunct Professor of Global Health Studies at the University of New Mexico (since 2017) and a Clinical Assistant Professor at Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine (since 2020). Dr. Gernon earned his MD from CETEC University, MPH&TM from Tulane University, and completed his Internal Medicine Residency at St. Louis University. His key projects include EHR implementation in Nairobi and Southeast Asia, a telemedicine project in Mexico, and a counterfeit medication database in Bangkok.
Lori Starke, MD is a board-certified emergency physician (ABEM, 2008) with extensive frontline experience in both single-coverage rural departments and busy metropolitan EDs. Since 2016, she has practiced as a locum with Vista Staffing, covering facilities such as Mount Carmel Hospital (Colville, WA), St. Joseph’s (Chewelah, WA), and five Presbyterian ERs/freestanding EDs in the Albuquerque area, as well as Ruidoso, NM. Earlier roles include Virginia Mason Hospital, Northwest Hospital & Medical Center (Seattle), Olympic Medical Center (Port Angeles), and additional Washington and Ohio sites. Her background also includes set-medic and medical supervision work for film, television, and commercial productions.
Dr. Starke completed her Emergency Medicine residency at Wright State University after earning her MD from the University of Washington School of Medicine. She holds a B.S. in Physics (minors in mathematics and art history) from Montana State University. Beyond clinical work, she founded Reverie Medical Aesthetics (Seattle and Bainbridge Island; 2024). Her career includes research presentations and publications in emergency medicine and participation in community and disaster-response volunteer efforts.
Mahmoud I. Hamza, MD is an emergency and urgent care physician with broad experience in community hospitals and trauma-designated centers nationwide. He has practiced in Level 1–4 trauma settings and urgent care, including assignments in New York, Kentucky, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Mexico, and Virginia. Dr. Hamza completed his Internal Medicine residency at St. Luke’s–Roosevelt Medical Center, Columbia University (New York, NY) and received his MD from the Faculty of Medicine, Alexandria University (Egypt). He maintains current ATLS (9/2023), ACLS (1/2023), PALS (1/2023), and BLS (1/2023) certifications and holds memberships in the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, and the Egyptian Medical Association. His community service includes work as a Volunteer Site Physician at the World Trade Center (2001) and participation in disaster relief efforts. Dr. Hamza is multilingual (French, Spanish, English, Arabic, Romanian).
Mark Anthony Stefanelli, MD is a board-certified internal medicine physician whose clinical practice centers on emergency medicine in rural and community settings. He has delivered single-coverage, 24-hour ED care and hospitalist support at hospitals such as Southern Coos Hospital (Bandon, OR), Forks Community Hospital (Forks, WA), Columbia Basin Hospital (Ephrata, WA), and Ocean Beach Hospital (Ilwaco, WA). Beyond the Pacific Northwest, Dr. Stefanelli has provided international care and medical leadership with International SOS in Vietnam and Myanmar, served at a refugee processing center on Nauru, and volunteered in remote island communities in Vanuatu. Earlier in his career, he founded Seaside Urgent Care (Seaside, OR).
Dr. Stefanelli completed his MD and Internal Medicine residency at UMDNJ–University Hospital (Newark, NJ) after undergraduate studies at Penn State and Lafayette College. He maintains ATLS (through 2027) and current BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications, and holds licensure in Oregon and Washington.
Dr. Miles Nelson is Board-certified in Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine, Dr. Nelson combines advanced medical expertise with strong leadership skills to provide exceptional care in emergency settings.
Dr. Nelson holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Chemistry from the University of Alaska, Anchorage. He earned his medical degree from Stanford University and completed his Emergency Medicine residency at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Beyond his medical training, Dr. Nelson pursued a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of New Mexico and is advancing his Data Analytics knowledge at Harvard University School of Business.
With his diverse educational background and commitment to innovation in medicine, Dr. Nelson continues to be a driving force in delivering high-quality emergency care.
Dr. John C. Neely II is an accomplished emergency medicine physician with a robust medical and military background. Board-certified in emergency and internal medicine, Dr. Neely earned his medical degree from Marshall University School of Medicine and completed rigorous training, including an internship in general surgery, a pre-residency fellowship in neurosurgery, and a residency in internal medicine. His specialized training also includes an emergency medicine fellowship, equipping him to handle the most critical and complex cases in emergency settings.
In addition to his clinical roles, Dr. Neely has extensive professional experience in healthcare business ownership, managing several successful medical and skincare practices across multiple states. His background in tropical medicine and certifications in advanced life support further demonstrate his commitment to delivering comprehensive and cutting-edge patient care.
Dr. Neely’s military service as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army and National Guard reflects his leadership skills and dedication to service. With expertise in both emergency medicine and business, Dr. Neely is a trusted physician and a valued member of the medical community.
Timothy William Overton is a board-certified Family Medicine physician with experience in emergency medicine, hospitalist care, and primary care. He serves as an Emergency Physician and Hospitalist with Emergency Staffing Solutions and Guadalupe County Hospital in Santa Rosa, NM, and provides primary care at Sunrise Medical Clinic. He is a Contributing Editor for Elsevier’s Practice Update, authoring expert commentaries and research summaries.
Dr. Overton is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of New Mexico Hospital and Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine, precepting residents and medical students in rural and outpatient family medicine. He earned his MD and MPH (summa cum laude) from UTHealth Houston, focusing on pediatric HIV and HPV vaccination, and completed his Family Medicine Residency at the University of New Mexico Hospital, where he served in provisional ICUs during the COVID-19 pandemic. He volunteers with the New Mexico Medical Reserve Corps, providing medical care during disasters and refugee operations.
